Security Operations Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Salary: $71,400–$105,660 CAD per year at the start of employment in Ontario; total compensation may also include a bonus and/or equity awards.

What you will do

• Support the development, testing, maintenance, and integration of SOAR playbooks and workflows.
• Identify repetitive security operations tasks and implement automation to improve response speed.
• Work with security analysts to understand workflows and develop practical automation solutions.
• Create and maintain documentation for automation workflows, scripts, and tool integrations.
• Assist with SOAR platform maintenance, routine updates, tool migrations, and logging system changes.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in a Security Engineering role.
• Solid understanding of core security concepts and exposure to SOAR, SIEM, EDR, and threat intelligence platforms.
• Foundational Python or similar scripting skills for reading, troubleshooting, and writing basic API integration scripts.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to break manual workflows into logical steps.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and collaboration.

Nice to have

• CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GISF, GSEC, or similar entry-to-intermediate security certification.
• Experience with Cortex XSOAR, Tines, Splunk SOAR, or another SOAR platform.
• Exposure to Go, Bash, PowerShell, or JavaScript.
• Basic familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK or NIST security frameworks.
• Previous SOC analyst or IT support technician experience.
