Staff Back-end Engineer (Rocket Pay) (Fintech)

hirify.global Pay develops payment and financial services for hirify.global customers, marketplace sellers, and hirify.global Eats restaurants in Korea and Taiwan, including the Coupay one-touch payment system and BaaS-based liquidity solutions.

What you will do

• Define the technical direction of core payment domains and design highly reliable fintech systems handling large-scale traffic.
• Own the stability, scalability, security, and performance of core payment services, including Coupay.
• Identify complex technical challenges and design and implement fundamental solutions for payment services used by tens of millions of customers.
• Lead the architecture of payment back-office, settlement, and reconciliation platforms in collaboration with Accounting, Treasury, and Fintech engineering teams.
• Improve operational stability through incident response, monitoring, and platform evolution.
• Raise the organization’s technical bar through code reviews, design reviews, and technical guidance.

Requirements

• 10+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems with Java or Kotlin and the Spring Framework.
• Technical ownership of and proactive improvement for one or more complex services or domains.
• Ability to design systems with strong consideration for performance, reliability, data consistency, and security.
• Experience structuring ambiguous problems and making technical decisions with tangible business impact.
• Ability to translate customer and business requirements into well-architected technical solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience leading architecture design and migrations in JPA- and MSA-based environments.
• Payment or fintech development and operations experience.
• Experience responding to incidents, building monitoring systems, and improving SLAs in high-traffic environments.
• Experience processing large-scale data with strong settlement and reconciliation accuracy guarantees.
• Technical leadership experience in agile software development environments.
