TL;DR
Staff Software Engineer (Card Payments) (Java/Kotlin, AWS): Building scalable, high-availability card payment products and microservices for real-time accounting, reconciliation, and billing systems with an accent on 3DS authentication, scheme connections, and LatAm payment products. Focus on leading architectural decisions, delivering cross-domain initiatives, and designing cloud-native, event-driven systems at massive scale.
Location: Sao Paulo, Brazil; hybrid with an expectation of three days per week onsite. Employees may work remotely from abroad for up to 30 additional days per year.

What you will do
- Establish company-wide technical standards and share engineering best practices.
- Deliver large cross-team and cross-domain projects and initiatives.
- Own products and services end-to-end, from requirements through production deployment.
- Lead technical direction within a cross-functional team and shape its engineering culture.
- Design and implement solutions for high-scale card payments, accounting, reconciliation, and billing.
- Collaborate through agile practices, including pair and mob programming.
Requirements
- Deep hands-on backend engineering experience with Java or another general-purpose programming language.
- Strong understanding of clean code principles and scalable, high-availability system design.
- Experience building and maintaining microservices and cloud-native systems.
- Familiarity with AWS or comparable Azure/GCP experience, containerized deployments, and cloud workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a pragmatic aach to software delivery.
- Professional working proficiency in English required.
Nice to have
- Experience with Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Micronaut, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and Kinesis.
- Experience with 3DS authentication, payment scheme connections, or card payments.
