Staff iOS Engineer (React Native)

Location: Hybrid work with an office in San Francisco, California

Salary: $230,000–$260,000 base salary per year, plus equity and discretionary performance bonuses.

What you will do

• Lead development of high-quality, scalable mobile React Native applications.
• Own architectural decisions and align technical solutions with company goals and future React Native developments.
• Mentor engineers, guide complex debugging and design decisions, and raise team-wide code quality.
• Drive rigorous testing, CI practices, pull request quality, release management, and observability.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and business stakeholders, translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Champion AI-assisted development and contribute to cross-platform initiatives when needed.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software development experience, including 4+ years of mobile iOS development with React Native.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, modern frontend technologies, and Expo.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, third-party services, state management libraries such as Redux, and asynchronous programming.
• Experience building and maintaining complex, high-performance mobile applications and owning projects from prototype through customer rollout.
• Strong knowledge of mobile design principles, patterns, best practices, feature flagging, release management, and observability tools such as Datadog or Crashlytics.
• Experience mentoring engineers, collaborating with designers and product managers, and using AI-assisted development workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience shipping React Native applications on macOS or leading mobile-to-desktop platform expansion.
• Experience with OpenGL, 3D rendering, matrix-based transformations, or media-manipulation tools.
• Familiarity with Android for cross-platform design discussions.
