Legal and Product Engineer (AI)

Location: On-site in London, Munich, or New York

Salary: $100,000–$220,000 per year

What you will do

• Partner with AI researchers to improve algorithms and prompt engineering for patent-specific tasks, including claim analysis, prior art comparison, and obviousness assessments.
• Build proprietary datasets and evaluation frameworks to benchmark AI performance against USPTO and international patent office requirements.
• Translate insights from patent practitioners and global firms into high-priority product features and roadmap decisions.
• Support pilots and strategic product deployments with intellectual property teams, including prosecution and litigation workflows.
• Document and scale AI adoption playbooks across sectors such as biotech and deep-tech software.

Requirements

• Admitted to practice before the USPTO, EPO, or JPO.
• At least 3 years of direct experience in patent prosecution.
• Undergraduate degree in engineering, computer science, or life sciences.
• Ability to work across patent law, AI engineering, product development, and client collaboration.
• Strong ownership of AI legal-reasoning accuracy and client deployment outcomes.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with prompt engineering and LLM tools.
• Experience managing client relationships and leading strategic product demonstrations.
• Familiarity with Python or software development.
• Belief in the potential of AI to transform the legal industry.
