Senior Java Backend Engineer (Spring Boot)

What you will do

• Design, develop, maintain, and support Java software systems powering financial products.
• Build product features, RESTful APIs, and event-driven microservices in an agile environment.
• Design database schemas and maintain application performance, code quality, security, and scalability.
• Develop unit and automated tests and support continuous improvements to application reliability.
• Build secure APIs and services for AI agents, including clear contracts, structured outputs, authentication, and rate limiting.
• Mentor and coach engineers while collaborating on architecture and development.

Requirements

• 5–6 years of experience with Java, JEE, Spring Boot, and associated technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Java 8, multithreading, JVM tuning, and performance optimization.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, databases, ORM technologies, troubleshooting, and quality assurance.
• Experience using AI coding assistants or agents, with the judgment to verify or override their output.
• DevOps knowledge covering source control, continuous integration, configuration management, deployment automation, containers, orchestration, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Role location: Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria.

Nice to have

• Node experience.
• Docker and Kubernetes knowledge.
• Kafka experience.
• Experience building agent-facing or agent-integrated systems, including tool or function calling, MCP, LLM API integration, prompt design, or agentic workflows.
