Senior Software Engineer (Shopify) (Shopify/Ruby on Rails): Building and evolving a Shopify integration that connects thousands of merchants with a commerce partnership platform, with an accent on Apps, Web Pixels, secure onboarding, APIs, and event-driven data processing. Focus on designing resilient webhook consumers, managing high-volume pipelines, upgrading platform integrations, and maintaining production reliability as Shopify evolves.

What you will do
- Own and evolve the Shopify integration, including Shopify Apps, Web Pixels, and platform extensions.
- Build privacy-compliant systems that capture conversions, refunds, and customer events across thousands of merchants.
- Design secure OAuth flows, credential management, and automated merchant onboarding.
- Build and maintain the Ruby on Rails application connecting Shopify with Impact APIs and the workflow engine.
- Design resilient webhook consumers and high-volume event pipelines for reliable synchronization between platforms.
- Monitor production health, manage API version upgrades, troubleshoot merchant issues, and maintain performance and security.
Requirements
- Production experience building Shopify Apps, integrations, or platform extensions beyond storefront development.
- Experience with Shopify Apps, Checkout UI Extensions, Web Pixels, Shopify Functions, App Bridge, GraphQL Admin API, OAuth, webhooks, and the Shopify Partner Dashboard.
- Experience integrating complex SaaS platforms and designing reliable event-driven systems.
- Knowledge of REST and GraphQL APIs, OAuth authentication, rate limiting, background processing, and high-volume event pipelines.
- Experience building and maintaining production backend services.
- Experience with Ruby on Rails is preferred; experience with Node, Python, PHP, or Java and willingness to develop Rails expertise are also considered. Modern JavaScript or TypeScript and browser-based tracking knowledge are required.
Nice to have
- Experience with Shopify Plus, marketing attribution, affiliate platforms, conversion tracking, analytics platforms, commerce integrations, and workflow automation.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, production monitoring, and observability.
