Senior Software Engineer (Shopify)

What you will do

• Own and evolve the Shopify integration, including Shopify Apps, Web Pixels, platform extensions, and privacy-compliant conversion, refund, and customer-event tracking.
• Design secure OAuth flows, credential management, automated onboarding, and a low-friction merchant installation experience.
• Build and maintain the Ruby on Rails application connecting Shopify with Impact APIs and the workflow engine.
• Design resilient webhook consumers, high-volume event pipelines, and reliable synchronization between platforms.
• Manage production health, API version upgrades, webhook delivery monitoring, merchant-specific troubleshooting, performance, security, and resilience.
• Evaluate Shopify capabilities such as Checkout Extensibility, Functions, and Web Pixels, and influence the integration architecture.

Requirements

• Production experience building Shopify Apps, integrations, or platform extensions beyond storefront development.
• Experience integrating complex SaaS platforms and designing reliable event-driven systems.
• Experience with REST and GraphQL APIs, OAuth, webhooks, rate limiting, background processing, and high-volume event pipelines.
• Production backend-service development and maintenance experience.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails, or with Node.js, Python, PHP, or Java and willingness to develop deeper Rails expertise.
• Experience with modern JavaScript or TypeScript and browser-based tracking technologies within Shopify.

Nice to have

• Shopify Plus, marketing attribution, affiliate platforms, conversion tracking, analytics platforms, or commerce integrations.
• Workflow automation, CI/CD pipelines, production monitoring, and observability experience.
