Location: Emeryville, California, United States; hybrid with 2–3 days on-site
Hiring salary range: $200,000–$330,000 USD per year

What you will do
- Design and develop predictive and generative models using evolutionary and experimental data.
- Train specialized models on large-scale protein and nucleic acid datasets.
- Curate datasets and define rigorous evaluation tasks for generative models.
- Collaborate with machine learning and protein design teams to prepare models for experimental validation.
- Implement, analyze, interpret, and present multiple computational approaches.
- Contribute to the scientific and strategic direction of an interdisciplinary biology and machine learning team.
Requirements
- PhD or equivalent industry experience in computer science, machine learning, natural language processing, applied mathematics, computational biology, statistics, or a related field.
- Experience conceiving, implementing, and evaluating novel machine learning techniques at the intersection of biology.
- Publications at major machine learning conferences or scientific journals.
- Experience with modern deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States is required.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of protein and nucleic acid biology.
- Experience developing protein machine learning models, including language models, structure prediction, or design systems.
- Experience with GCP, AWS, Azure, or OCI.
- Experience extracting and curating data from bioinformatics sources.
- Familiarity with wet-lab assays and their limitations.
- 3–5 years of industry experience.
