Backend Tech Lead (FinTech)

Location: Milan, Italy; hybrid with three days per week in-office on Tuesday, Thursday, and one additional chosen day

Salary: €51,000–€66,500 gross per annum

What you will do

• Conduct technical analysis and design highly available, scalable, and secure multi-service solutions for digital welfare products.
• Build and maintain backend integrations covering employer registration, employee spending, and benefit allocation.
• Implement testing strategies and oversee gradual rollouts to ensure precise and reliable welfare distributions.
• Resolve technical blockers and address complex B2B registration and high-volume benefit allocation challenges.
• Maintain system stability while simplifying payments and supporting complex welfare regulations.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and promote knowledge sharing and strong engineering practices.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in backend software engineering.
• Strong experience with microservices and cloud environments.
• Deep expertise in Java; AWS experience is a plus.
• Ability to analyze large-scope projects affecting multiple systems and provide technical leadership.
• Structured professional communication and reliable technical documentation skills.
• Fluent English required.

• Experience with AWS cloud platforms.
