Senior Software Engineer, Web (Next.js)

Location: Remote across Canada

Salary: CAD$174,487–CAD$205,332 annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Design and build scalable front-end features and high-performance web applications with Next.js, React, Vue.js, and TypeScript.
• Develop modular, reusable UI components and own web features through testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Optimize SSR/SSG, lazy loading, responsive design, page load time, TTI, and Core Web Vitals.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Backend, and DevOps to define requirements and deliver secure, accessible user experiences.
• Contribute to front-end architecture, micro-frontend design, code reviews, engineering standards, and CI/CD workflows.
• Mentor junior engineers and maintain strong standards for automated testing, code quality, accessibility, and security.

Requirements

• Approximately 8 years of professional software development experience focused on front-end web applications, or approximately 6 years with an advanced degree.
• Strong proficiency in Next.js, React, Vue.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Experience with web performance tools such as Lighthouse, WebPageTest, and Chrome DevTools.
• Experience with micro-frontend architectures, SSR/SSG, CDN strategies, caching, responsive design, and front-end security.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, modern deployment workflows, and cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, plus strong collaboration and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Bilingual English and Mandarin communication.
• Experience developing Mini Programs or Mini Apps, such as WeChat Mini Program.
• Experience with analytics instrumentation or blockchain-integrated front ends, including wallet integrations.
