TL;DR
Software Engineer Advanced (Android) (Kotlin/Java): Building scalable native Android applications, frameworks, SDKs, and platform components for enterprise devices with an accent on modern architecture, hardware integration, and software quality. Focus on solving complex performance and reliability problems, developing automated tests and CI/CD improvements, and prototyping computer vision and on-device AI/ML experiences.
Location: Hybrid in Colombo, Sri Lanka; travel required up to 15%

What you will do
- Architect, design, develop, and test native Android applications for complex technical projects using Kotlin, Java, Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, and Gradle.
- Create scalable, maintainable, and testable Android specifications and architectures based on MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, and SOLID principles.
- Lead Android design and code reviews while improving performance, security, reliability, usability, and maintainability.
- Integrate applications with cameras, barcode scanners, RFID, NFC, Bluetooth peripherals, sensors, location services, and Android system services.
- Build reusable Android frameworks, SDKs, libraries, and platform components for multiple mobile products and releases.
- Develop automated tests, strengthen CI/CD and build automation, resolve complex production issues, and collaborate with product, UX, cloud, AI/ML, firmware, hardware, and DevOps teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; equivalent work experience may substitute for a degree.
- 8+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 5+ years with an advanced degree.
- Strong professional experience developing native Android applications.
- Strong knowledge of Kotlin, Java, Android SDK, Android Studio, Gradle, Jetpack libraries, and Android architecture components.
- Experience with MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, modular architecture, Hilt/Dagger, Coroutines, Flow, asynchronous programming, REST APIs, Git, and CI/CD.
- Experience with Camera2, NDK/JNI/C++, Android Enterprise, telemetry, diagnostics, JUnit, Espresso, Mockito, and UI automation.
