Legal Counsel (Fintech)

Location: Luxembourg, Luxembourg; hybrid work with three days per week in the office, on Tuesday, Thursday, and one additional day of choice.

A financial technology company building a platform for payments, saving, investing, and other financial needs.

What you will do

• Provide strategic legal guidance on regulatory, contractual, and product-related matters in payments, e-money, and consumer credit.
• Support the design and launch of payment and consumer credit products, including BNPL, in collaboration with technical and business teams.
• Identify legal and regulatory risks and propose mitigation strategies aligned with the organization’s risk appetite.
• Advise on financial regulations, including PSD2, AML/KYC, e-money regulations, and CCD2.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and promote legal awareness across the organization.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience; 8–10 years of professional legal experience is preferred.
• Deep knowledge of financial and consumer credit regulations, including PSD2, AML/KYC, EMRs, and CCD2.
• Demonstrated experience in fintech and payments, ideally across private practice and in-house environments.
• Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to make risk-based decisions on complex legal matters.
• Understanding of basic technology and engineering processes in fintech, payments, and consumer lending.
• Fluent written and spoken English is essential.
