Mechanical Systems Test Engineer (Robotics)

Salary: $100,000–$160,000 per year, plus stock and benefits

What you will do

• Develop and execute long-term reliability, robustness, HALT, and end-of-life testing for robotic assemblies and components.
• Design and build test fixtures, equipment, and supporting functionality using 3D CAD and SolidWorks.
• Create test plans and statistical models to define test quantities, durations, reliability objectives, and failure criteria.
• Perform root-cause and failure analysis, interpret test data, and present conclusions to stakeholders.
• Lead mechanical design improvements, detailed CAD and BOM generation, component and assembly drawings, and GD&T documentation.
• Coordinate cross-functional reliability projects and support hardware deployment in new facilities while maintaining the reliability lab.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a similar field.
• 1–5+ years of experience running long-term reliability or end-of-life testing on mechatronic systems.
• Experience creating and building test fixtures in 3D CAD and creating and executing test plans or research studies.
• Experience with mechatronics hardware, including motors and drives, sensors, and actuators.
• Knowledge of life data analysis, zero-failure and k-failure test plans, censored data, confidence bounds, MTBF, or B-life estimation.
• Hands-on troubleshooting ability across mechanical, robotics, hardware, electronics, and automation systems, with a focus on component wear and degradation.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with HALT, HASS, HASA, Weibull++, ReliaSoft, JMP, ASQ CRE, SolidWorks, PDM, or Arena Solutions PDM.
• Experience testing wear components such as belts, gears, motors, bearings, and springs in robotic systems.
• Experience designing and manufacturing mechanical parts, assemblies, and mechanisms.
• Experience with robotics, control systems, engineering project management, or food technology.
