Mechanical Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; onsite five days a week

hirify.global develops robotics and software to automate on-site construction, building autonomous systems for masonry and housing construction.

What you will do

• Develop mechanical systems that advance full autonomy for masonry robots, including wall-anchor installation, mortar pointing, lifting platforms, and automated material supply.
• Design reliable robots that can withstand harsh construction conditions and be serviced and redeployed in under 24 hours.
• Build next-generation hardware for higher-precision brick placement, larger payloads, expanded build envelopes, interchangeable end effectors, and operation in constrained spaces.
• Scope problems, perform calculations, fabricate parts in the workshop, test designs on construction sites, and iterate toward robust, scalable solutions.
• Participate in field deployments, stress-test systems, and identify edge cases encountered while constructing real homes.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience building and shipping projects autonomously, whether professionally, through a student team, or through personal projects.
• Experience designing and delivering products from concept through low-volume production.
• Proficiency in rapid prototyping, 3D printing, machining, and milling.
• Deep knowledge of mechanical systems and structural dynamics, including statics, mechanics of materials, dynamics, vibrations, materials science, and controls.
• Expertise in complex 3D CAD modeling and assemblies using tools such as Onshape, SolidWorks, or Siemens NX.
• Expertise in multiphysics simulation and FEA for structural design, with the ability to perform hand calculations when appropriate; experience selecting and integrating actuators, sensors, and cameras is also required.

Nice to have

• Ability to write embedded code in C or C++.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, mechatronics, or robotics engineering, or equivalent experience.
