Verification Test Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: London, UK; at least 4 days per week in the office, with one flexible work-from-home day

What you will do

• Design, write, and execute verification test protocols for hardware, software, and system-level requirements.
• Develop and qualify test methods, equipment, fixtures, tooling, and supporting infrastructure.
• Collect and analyse test results, investigate anomalies and non-conformances, and support root-cause analysis with quality and engineering teams.
• Author verification reports and maintain requirements traceability for design history files, regulatory submissions, FDA clearance, and CE marking.
• Support system integration testing across hardware, firmware, and software components.
• Contribute to ISO 14971 risk management, including FMEA reviews and verification of risk-control effectiveness.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in verification, test engineering, or a closely related role.
• Hands-on experience writing and executing test protocols for complex hardware or software systems.
• Experience in a regulated industry and familiarity with design-control requirements.
• Python experience for developing software-based test tools and scripts to collect and analyse test data.
• Working knowledge of ISO 14971 and ISO 13485, plus familiarity with requirements management and test management platforms.
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills, including documenting anomalies, non-conformances, test protocols, and verification reports.

Nice to have

• Hardware-in-the-loop or software-in-the-loop testing for embedded or real-time systems.
• Optical, photonic, or biomedical hardware testing and characterisation.
• Familiarity with IEC 62304 software V&V requirements.
• Experience with automated test frameworks or scripting in embedded or mixed-signal environments.
