TL;DR
Senior R & D Engineer, Electrical Engineering (Implantable Neuroelectronics) (analog/mixed-signal hardware): Designing electrical architectures and miniaturized electronics for implantable brain–computer interfaces with an accent on neural acquisition, ASIC integration, power management, RF telemetry, and flex-circuit design. Focus on verifying safety-critical implant electronics, solving reliability and signal-integrity challenges, and supporting regulatory design controls through production.

Location: San Diego, California, United States; on-site

Salary: $140,000–$200,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. Discretionary bonuses and/or equity grants may also be available.

Company

hirify.global develops non-surgical brain–computer interfaces and implantable neuroelectronics to help people with paralysis interact with digital systems and support cognitive function.

What you will do

  • Own the end-to-end electrical architecture of implantable devices, including neural acquisition, mixed-signal processing, power regulation, and RF telemetry.
  • Lead schematic design, component selection, circuit simulation, ASIC integration, and silicon bring-up planning.
  • Develop miniaturized, high-density PCB and flex-rigid assemblies, including layout reviews, signal-integrity analysis, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Design power delivery, energy harvesting and storage, wireless communication links, power budgets, and duty-cycling strategies.
  • Define and execute electrical verification, validation, environmental, EMC/EMI, reliability, and failure-analysis activities.
  • Support cross-functional integration with firmware, mechanical, and systems engineering teams, contract manufacturers, and test houses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in analog or mixed-signal hardware design for miniaturized, high-reliability electronic systems.
  • Expertise in low-noise neural or bioelectric front-end design, including amplifier chains, ADC interfacing, and filtering.
  • Strong experience with high-density PCB and flex-circuit design in space-constrained systems.
  • Proficiency with EDA tools such as Altium or Cadence and circuit-simulation tools.
  • Hands-on experience taking electronic subsystems from prototype through design verification and into production.

Nice to have

  • Experience with active implantable medical devices such as neurostimulators, cochlear implants, or cardiac rhythm devices.
  • ASIC integration or co-design experience, RF or wireless telemetry design, and power management for energy-constrained implants.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14708, IEC 60601, ISO 14971, FDA guidance, and regulatory submissions such as IDE, PMA, or 510(k).

Culture & Benefits

  • Work on safety-critical systems at the intersection of healthcare and technology.
  • Medical and dental insurance is subsidized for eligible employees and dependents.
  • Life, short-term disability, and long-term disability insurance.
  • 401(k), discretionary unlimited paid time off, and flexible spending account.
  • W-2, full-time, exempt US employees are eligible for the listed benefits; commuter benefits are available for New York employees.

Hiring process

  • Reasonable accommodations are available during the application and interview process.
