What you will do
- Identify, vet, and coordinate domestic and international architecture vendors, permitting consultants, and local code authorities.
- Lead architectural due diligence for new sites, evaluating zoning, building codes, permitting pathways, and approval risks.
- Develop standardized architectural concepts for modular data centers, auxiliary buildings, and complete campus layouts.
- Perform in-house architectural design for new products and first-of-a-kind site conditions before local jurisdictional review.
- Coordinate product and engineering teams with architects, general contractors, and code consultants to preserve life-safety, occupancy, and operational requirements through construction.
- Maintain design standards, permitting checklists, and code-compliance workflows, and provide final architectural readiness sign-off.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related field and professional licensure such as RA, AIA, or an international equivalent.
- 5–7 years of experience leading architectural design and permitting for ground-up commercial, industrial, or mission-critical facilities.
- Direct experience working with local Authorities Having Jurisdiction and independently performing in-house architectural design.
- Working knowledge of the IBC and comparable international building, fire, and life-safety codes.
- Ability to operate autonomously while creating standards, workflows, and governance processes.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20–30% worldwide.
Nice to have
- Experience with modular or prefabricated construction, especially data centers or other mission-critical and industrial facilities.
- Knowledge of data center design, including equipment yards, cooling and power infrastructure, and security or operations buildings.
- Experience managing external architecture and permitting vendors across geographically dispersed projects.
- Experience creating design standards, templates, or governance processes for growing portfolios.
- Experience collaborating with product or hardware engineering teams, general contractors, and local consultants across multiple regions.
