Software Engineer, Cyber Physical Systems (SCADA)

Location: Onsite in Alameda, CA or Albuquerque, NM, United States. Some travel may be required, approximately 10%.

Salary: $92,454–$108,769 annually for employees working onsite at the Alameda, CA headquarters.

What you will do

• Build and maintain software for test systems, industrial operations, SCADA workflows, data acquisition, and analysis.
• Develop operator and engineering tools using Ignition Perspective or similar SCADA/HMI platforms.
• Create PostgreSQL-backed applications, including schemas, queries, integrations, and data quality improvements.
• Build APIs and integrations between applications, databases, SCADA systems, PLCs, and plant data systems.
• Support live applications used in industrial facility operations and interfaces with PLC-controlled systems.
• Develop trend, anomaly-detection, automated testing, CI/CD, deployment, documentation, and developer workflow tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent experience.
• 2–4 years of experience developing software applications, services, scripts, APIs, or data integrations.
• Programming experience in Python, Java, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar technologies.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL, preferably PostgreSQL, plus software development practices such as version control, code review, testing, and technical documentation.
• Ability to troubleshoot systems spanning software applications, APIs, databases, data acquisition systems, and industrial control environments.
• Ability to work onsite in Alameda, CA or Albuquerque, NM; occasional overtime, weekend work, schedule flexibility, and non-standard hours may be required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ignition Perspective, SCADA/HMI, PLC systems, Rockwell Automation Studio 5000, Allen-Bradley PLCs, industrial protocols, or PLC-to-SCADA integration.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, deployment automation, GitHub Actions, Docker, or DevOps workflows.
• Experience with data acquisition, visualization, AI/ML, anomaly detection, analytics, or hardware-oriented environments such as energy, manufacturing, aerospace, semiconductors, or robotics.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity, access control, data governance, backup and recovery, observability, or regulated technical environments.
