Head of Sourcing and Vendor Management (AI)

Location: On-site in the Bay Area

What you will do

• Build the sourcing and vendor management function from zero for data and compute resources.
• Source and acquire datasets and collection partners to fill coverage gaps.
• Negotiate MSAs, SOWs, and compute agreements while managing delivery against commitments.
• Forecast compute capacity needs and manage a large, growing spend line.
• Define and enforce quality KPIs and data rights, including provenance, licensing, and consent.
• Develop operational models, scorecards, and tooling to track program metrics and efficiency.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in vendor management, strategic sourcing, or infrastructure procurement.
• Proven track record of scaling sourcing functions at an AI lab, data, or infrastructure company.
• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage commercial terms and technical requirements.
• Experience in capacity planning, demand forecasting, and managing large-scale budgets.
• Deep understanding of data compliance, licensing, and cross-border data acquisition.
• Ability to build internal tools, dashboards, and scorecards from scratch.
