Staff Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Remote-first; must live anywhere in Brazil. Optional access to São Paulo offices or partner coworking spaces up to twice a week.

What you will do

• Architect, develop, and deploy machine learning systems for chatbots, search, and other product features.
• Design and execute experiments using structured, unstructured, observational, and experimental data.
• Improve existing models and create new machine learning solutions.
• Develop LLM-powered applications by testing prompts, evaluating agents, and assessing AI guardrails.
• Build proof-of-concept solutions to validate generative AI product features.
• Contribute to Data Science chapter discussions, design reviews, guilds, and demos while advising other data scientists.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience applying data science and creating machine learning models.
• Expert knowledge of regression, classification, clustering, neural networks, feature selection, cross-validation, model explainability, and related machine learning concepts.
• Understanding of the engineering challenges involved in deploying machine learning systems to production.
• Proficiency in Python and some knowledge or experience with deep learning.
• Experience providing technical advice or leadership to other data scientists.
• Good English skills in verbal and written communication are mandatory.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or equivalent intensive experience in machine learning, data science, information retrieval, ranking, recommender systems, or natural language processing.
• Experience with AI agents, prompt engineering, LLM fine-tuning, LLM routing, monitoring, or guardrails.
• Experience working at fast-growing startups.
