Embedded Software Developer – Ethernet APIs (Ethernet) (C/Embedded Ethernet): Designing and maintaining OS-agnostic C APIs for Ethernet PHYs and switches used in automotive and industrial systems with an accent on API extensibility, networking features, and functional safety. Focus on implementing QoS, IEEE 1588/PTP time-stamping, MACsec, traffic shaping, and automated API validation under MISRA and ASPICE requirements.

What you will do
- Design, develop, and maintain OS-agnostic C APIs for Ethernet PHYs and switches.
- Implement digital networking features including auto-negotiation, QoS, IEEE 1588/PTP time-stamping, MACsec, traffic shaping, and policing.
- Ensure API compatibility, maintainability, and long-term backward compatibility.
- Contribute to automated test infrastructure, API validation, documentation, and continuous integration.
- Develop readable MISRA-compliant C code according to ASPICE, automotive quality processes, and applicable safety standards.
- Collaborate with chip design, systems engineering, networking, validation, and product development teams.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in C and embedded software development.
- Experience developing software for embedded systems, preferably in networking or communications.
- Experience working in regulated environments with demanding safety, quality, or reliability requirements.
- Relevant technical education and typically five or more years of applicable experience.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Ability to solve complex technical problems independently and collaborate effectively across functions.
Nice to have
- Experience with Ethernet switch SoCs, PHYs, IEEE 802.1Q, Layer 2 forwarding, QoS, TSN, or time-sensitive networking.
- Knowledge of MISRA, ASPICE, ISO 26262, IEC 62443, or other software and functional-safety standards.
- Experience with Git, CMake, Ruby, Linux, automated testing, continuous integration, or software tooling.
- Experience with Ethernet standardization bodies, industry consortia, or working groups.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools, including Claude Code, with attention to code review, security, intellectual property, and verification.
