What you will do
- Support the quality assurance analytical laboratory through applied analytical chemistry expertise and technical oversight.
- Interpret GCMS and IC chromatograms, verify technician-generated results, and assess calibration validity, recoveries, trends, and system suitability.
- Investigate out-of-specification and out-of-trend results, anomalous chromatographic findings, sample matrix effects, and possible process contamination.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and first-level troubleshooting for GCMS and IC instruments.
- Manage reagents, calibration standards, consumables, certified reference material traceability, chemical storage, segregation, and EHS waste disposal.
- Follow laboratory quality-system documentation and GLP requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, or Industrial Chemistry.
- Fresh graduates are welcome; industrial training in an analytical, QC, or R&D chemistry laboratory is advantageous.
- Strong theoretical and practical understanding of GCMS and IC analytical principles, including calibration, retention time, chromatographic resolution, LOD, LOQ, and data interpretation.
- Proficiency in MS Excel.
- Ability to work onsite in Bayan Lepas, Malaysia.
Nice to have
- Exposure to CDS software such as MassHunter, Chromeleon, ChemStation, or OpenLab.
- Hands-on or coursework-level experience with GC, IC, HPLC, or equivalent chromatographic instruments.
- Experience with control charts, regression analysis, statistical data evaluation, and trending.
