Vice President, Engineering (AI)

Location: Fully remote, based in Canada; occasional travel required

What you will do

• Lead Software Engineering, QA/Quality Engineering, and Systems Administration/Infrastructure.
• Oversee the development, delivery, quality, reliability, and technical operation of cloud-based SaaS solutions for EAM, maintenance, GIS, budgeting, and permitting.
• Translate technology and product strategy into engineering plans in partnership with the CTO, Product Management, Business Analysis, and business leaders.
• Develop and govern the AI-enabled engineering strategy, including adoption of AI tools across development, testing, release, documentation, and operations.
• Modernize architecture, technical quality, test automation, CI/CD, release controls, monitoring, and platform reliability.
• Manage budgets, resource planning, vendors, workforce planning, talent development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, technology operations, or software delivery leadership, including 5+ years leading engineering managers, technical leads, or multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience scaling engineering organizations and developing technical leaders, management structures, and operating models.
• Experience leading AI-enabled software development adoption and measuring its impact on productivity, delivery velocity, quality, testing, and organizational capacity.
• Experience overseeing QA/Quality Engineering, test automation, regression testing, release quality, cloud platforms, SaaS architecture, APIs, and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience with departmental budgets, financial planning, resource allocation, vendors, contractors, and technology investments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience; strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in GovTech, municipal technology, enterprise SaaS, asset management, ERP, or public-sector software.
• Experience in a private-equity-backed or metrics-driven environment with executive and Board-level reporting.
