Platform Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: London, with flexible work-from-home options 1 day a week

What you will do

• Take operational responsibility for production trading and research environments across the trading lifecycle.
• Help consolidate and standardise the platform used to build, deploy, develop, and run applications.
• Build and automate operational processes such as configuration checks, system health monitoring, alerting, and reliability reporting.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve deployment efficiency, monitoring, automation, and resiliency.
• Collaborate with traders, developers, quantitative researchers, data engineers, and infrastructure teams.
• Drive projects to completion and promote continuous improvement and engineering best practices.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in a similar technical operations, DevOps, or platform engineering role.
• Experience building reliable, scalable, and maintainable systems across legacy and greenfield codebases.
• Ability to design and program with a variety of languages and technologies.
• Experience automating operations tasks with scripting languages such as Python.
• Strong problem-solving, prioritisation, communication, and ownership skills, including the ability to work under time pressure and handle large volumes of information.
• Ability to work closely with trading, development, research, data, and infrastructure functions.

Nice to have

• Multiple years of server-side development experience.
• Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, Linux, Kafka, Prometheus, and modern deployment tooling.
• Experience improving operations in a front-office trading environment and working with traders or automated strategies.
• Familiarity with Git, Jira, TeamCity, Confluence, Ansible, SQL, HTTP messaging, and network protocols.
• Experience managing operational risk in a trading environment.
