Backend Engineer / (Core Banking System)

Location: Hybrid workstyle in Japan; office attendance is expected according to organizational guidelines and team objectives.

What you will do

• Design highly reliable financial infrastructure and develop backend services that balance performance and stability.
• Design system architecture, select middleware, and define integrations with infrastructure.
• Improve microservices performance, monitoring, and alerting.
• Analyze failures and drive continuous improvements in system reliability and quality.
• Develop and improve banking applications, including account opening, hirify.global mini-app integration, cardless ATM services, and loan services.
• After joining, work as a project member seconded to hirify.global Bank.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of backend development experience.
• Practical experience with C or Java, plus strong skills in other common programming languages.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming fundamentals.
• Experience with database schema design for RDB or NoSQL databases and efficient query creation.
• Experience developing and tuning web applications with security considerations.
• Native Japanese or Japanese proficiency equivalent to JLPT N1 or N2 is required.

Nice to have

• Financial industry development experience.
• Experience implementing RESTful APIs, Pub/Sub systems, database clients, or other platform components.
• Experience with AWS, microservices, large-transaction systems, or scalable web products.
• Development experience in both C and Java.
• Business-level conversational English.
