TL;DR
Backend Engineer (Fintech): Designing and developing large-scale payment systems for high-throughput applications with an accent on distributed computing, concurrency, and production reliability. Location: Hybrid work in Japan with expected office attendance according to organizational guidelines and team objectives

is a fintech company operating a large-scale digital payment platform used by more than 75 million customers.
What you will do
- Design large-scale systems supporting high-throughput payment applications.
- Develop and maintain backend services and infrastructure for payment experiences.
- Build tools and contribute to open-source projects where possible.
- Investigate root causes and support the code deployed to production.
- Use AI and LLM-based tools for code development, reviews, testing, documentation, and debugging.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of professional Java experience, or strong programming skills in languages such as Scala, Python, or Go.
- Experience with NoSQL databases and distributed caches.
- Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, concurrency, and distributed computing.
- Degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or at least 5 years of equivalent SaaS platform development experience.
- Business-level English or Japanese.
- Professional experience using AI/LLM tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Gemini, or CodeWhisperer.
Nice to have
- Experience implementing RESTful APIs, Pub/Sub systems, or database clients.
- Experience with AWS, microservices, and systems handling massive transaction volumes.
- Background in finance, payments, or similar industries.
- Japanese and English language skills.
- AI-assisted system design, delivery, open-source contributions, or workflow automation.
