Field Data Operations Manager

What you will do

• Recruit, onboard, and manage a network of regional contractors for field data collection.
• Define and document protocols for capturing pasture, forage, and animal data.
• Manage day-to-day operations, including scheduling, logistics, and seasonal scaling.
• Ensure incoming data is consistent, accurate, and fit for use by the machine learning team.
• Build feedback loops between field collectors and engineering to improve data quality.
• Conduct regular field visits to test protocols and identify operational issues.

Requirements

• Must be based in Auckland, New Zealand for this office-based role.
• Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end data or annotation operations, including quality systems.
• Ability to translate ambiguous engineering requirements into precise operational specifications.
• Strong service mindset with a focus on supporting cross-functional machine learning teams.
• Capability to move with urgency and manage complex logistics in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in field trials, agronomic research, or managing distributed field crews is highly valued.
