TL;DR
Lead Engineer (Platform) (AWS/cloud infrastructure): Building and evolving the platform that supports Halter’s collar-to-cloud systems, engineering workflows, and billions of daily events with an accent on cloud scalability, security, developer experience, and AI-assisted engineering. Focus on designing golden paths, hardening AWS environments, automating infrastructure, and keeping compute, orchestration, observability, and incident response reliable at scale.

develops a livestock-management platform that helps farmers and ranchers run more productive and sustainable grazing operations using connected cattle collars and cloud software.
What you will do
- Set the technical direction for cloud infrastructure, platform architecture, and operational practices as the company scales globally.
- Evolve internal AI tooling, including adoption patterns, guardrails, CI-failure triage, pull-request review bots, and AI-summarized build notifications.
- Build golden paths, developer tooling, Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD pipelines, and secure defaults that help engineering teams ship safely and quickly.
- Harden cloud security across IAM, network policy, secrets management, and software supply chain practices.
- Maintain reliable compute and orchestration systems, observability, and incident tooling for the collar-to-cloud platform.
- Lead architecture discussions, mentor engineers, align multiple teams, and participate in the on-call rotation.
Requirements
- Deep experience building and operating AWS environments at scale.
- Strong knowledge of container orchestration, cloud networking, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
- Experience leading platform or infrastructure work in a high-growth environment and setting direction across multiple teams.
- Hands-on experience building developer platforms, golden paths, paved roads, or internal tooling.
- Experience hardening cloud environments and building observable, testable, and debuggable systems at scale.
- Strong communication, collaboration, mentoring, and pragmatic decision-making skills.
Nice to have
- Backend product development experience.
- Production experience building an AI agent or AI-assisted tooling.
