Lead React Native Engineer

Location: Auckland, New Zealand; office-first, with working from the office every day as the default

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and implementation of core React Native features across iOS and Android.
• Design and maintain native modules and bridges where appropriate.
• Ship high-impact features in collaboration with product and design.
• Improve app performance, offline-first behavior, and error handling for field conditions.
• Evolve mobile design systems and UI patterns.
• Raise engineering standards through code reviews, pairing, and mentoring.

Requirements

• Deep experience with React Native and strong opinions on mobile architecture, navigation, state management, and module boundaries.
• Strong TypeScript experience and the ability to decide when native development is appropriate.
• Experience shipping complex React Native applications in cross-functional teams.
• Deep understanding of mobile performance, accessibility, testing, and maintainability.
• Product-oriented approach, ownership, and comfort working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with CodePush and App Store releases at scale.
• Experience with design systems and mentoring mobile engineers.
• A relevant degree.
