Colo LL Strategic Specialist - Compute (Ultra Low Latency)

Location: Montreal, London, or New York

Salary: Minimum base salary of $120,000 per year if located in New York; discretionary bonuses and benefits may also apply.

What you will do

• Deliver and support solutions across a global colocation estate of more than 400 servers across 30 sites.
• Manage distributed compute environments and multiple petabyte-scale storage systems.
• Install, manage, monitor, and optimize RHEL-based Linux systems.
• Automate infrastructure operations, configuration management, recovery workflows, and monitoring.
• Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, network, and performance issues across the technology stack.
• Respond to incidents, participate in on-call rotations, conduct root cause analysis, and manage capacity.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience with Linux, preferably RHEL, CentOS, or Rocky, in operations, systems engineering, or systems performance.
• Deep knowledge of HP, Supermicro, Dell, and overclocked server architectures, CPU architectures, and hardware/OS tuning.
• Experience with low-latency network interfaces and kernel bypass, including Solarflare with Onload and Mellanox with VMA.
• Experience with Chef or Ansible, observability tools such as Grafana and Prometheus, and scripting in Python, Ruby, or Bash.
• Strong knowledge of TCP, UDP unicast and multicast, NTP, PTP, Wireshark, Tshark, and network-stack troubleshooting.
• Understanding of trading venues such as Nasdaq, LSE, and Euronext, plus strong communication, problem-solving, and ownership skills.

Nice to have

• Kernel development and the ability to add custom features to stock kernels.
• Knowledge of exchange protocols including FIX, BOE, OUCH/ITCH, PILLAR, SBE, and OMEX.
• Experience with Terraform, network switch architectures, FPGA-based applications, or L1 network design.
