Data Operations Specialist (Agriculture)

What you will do

• Coordinate with farmers to conduct ground-truth data collection, including pasture biomass measurements and environmental observations.
• Operate and maintain field collection equipment, sensors, and drones in variable weather and terrain.
• Follow precise sampling plans to ensure datasets are representative and comparable across time and location.
• Perform first-line quality checks in the field to ensure data accuracy and traceability.
• Collaborate with ML engineers to understand dataset requirements and refine collection playbooks.
• Train and onboard new specialists as the data operations function scales.

Requirements

• Must hold a full, valid driver's licence and be willing to travel to farms.
• Experience in a field-based, agricultural, or data collection role.
• Familiarity with farm environments, livestock handling, or pastoral systems.
• Comfort with collection tooling, GPS/GNSS devices, drones, or sensors.
• Ability to work outdoors in variable physical conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols.

Nice to have

• Exposure to annotation or labelling workflows.
• Experience with real-world sensor data or imagery.
• Background in roles where data quality and traceability were non-negotiable.
