What you will do
- Develop, verify, validate, and deploy physics-based algorithms for laser measurement systems and optical imaging.
- Transform novel sensor data streams into production-ready algorithms for clinics and products.
- Collaborate with optical engineers, hardware developers, clinical researchers, and data scientists.
- Design calibration, validation, and noise-characterisation methodologies for measurement algorithms.
- Integrate physics-aware algorithms into backend infrastructure and deliver production-quality code.
- Mentor engineers and researchers within a multidisciplinary algorithm team.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Physics, Optical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of relevant industry experience, or 5+ years of experience after a PhD.
- Deep knowledge of physics-based modelling and simulation, including translating optical, acoustic, or electromagnetic systems into code from first principles.
- Experience with laser-based measurement techniques such as laser speckle, Doppler, OCT, interferometry, FMCW lidar, or spectroscopy.
- Strong software engineering skills and experience shipping algorithms to production, including work at the hardware-software boundary.
- Motivation to apply rigorous measurement science to preventative healthcare.
Nice to have
- Experience in clinical or regulated environments and knowledge of medical-device algorithm requirements.
- Background in medtech, biophotonics, metrology, or sensor-driven R&D.
- Experience mentoring engineers or researchers in high-growth, mission-driven organisations.
