What you will do
- Design, develop, and maintain automated API test suites using Karate for REST services.
- Cover functional, regression, integration, and contract testing, including request and response contracts, status codes, error handling, authentication, authorization, and data integrity.
- Collaborate with backend engineers, product managers, and designers to define testable API requirements and support reliable software releases.
- Improve the Karate-based API automation framework, CI/CD testing pipelines, QA processes, documentation, and release readiness.
- Validate integrations with databases and message queues and participate in code reviews, test-plan reviews, and QA discussions.
- Mentor junior QA engineers and contribute to continuous learning and quality improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically 1–2 years of experience in software testing, QA, or test automation, including API or backend testing.
- Experience with API test automation tools such as Karate, REST Assured, or Postman; Karate is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of REST fundamentals, HTTP methods, status codes, headers, JSON/XML payloads, OAuth 2.0, and JWT.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and basic SQL for validating data behind the API layer.
- Strong communication, collaboration, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with Java, Gherkin/BDD, Pact or other contract-testing tools, Gatling, JMeter, API mocking, or service virtualization.
