VP of IT Infrastructure & Operations (f/m/d), Karlsruhe

What you will do

• Lead an agile, hybrid IT operations organization of five departments across three locations and approximately 100 employees.
• Own operations and platform development for a web portal generating more than 10 billion page impressions per month across over 50,000 hosts.
• Shape system architectures and strategic and technical roadmaps for scalable IT operations.
• Manage CAPEX and OPEX budgets and coordinate strategic investments with top management.
• Set goals, ensure execution, and coach leaders in their personal and organizational development.
• Collaborate with software development, product management, group-owned data centers, and external colocation partners while governing long-term infrastructure projects.

Requirements

• Several years of leadership experience in IT operations as a Director, VP, Head of Department, or CTO.
• Background in system administration, software development, or infrastructure engineering, plus a completed technical degree.
• Experience operating highly available 24/7 environments for web, mobile, or financial services with millions of users and high traffic volumes.
• Knowledge of IT and network security, DDoS protection, high availability, and business continuity management.
• Experience designing distributed systems and understanding current IT technologies, architecture development, and innovation.
• Working knowledge of Ceph, Kubernetes, Cassandra, Prometheus, Elasticsearch, HAProxy, BGP, and related technologies.
