TL;DR
Backend Software Engineer (AI-Enabled Development) (Backend, DevOps, AI): Building maintainable and scalable enterprise backend services with an accent on secure coding, automated testing, CI/CD, cloud-ready development, and AI-assisted engineering. Focus on designing APIs and microservices, improving observability and deployment automation, and solving performance, reliability, and security challenges.
Location: Colombo, Western Province, Sri Lanka. Hybrid work opportunities are available.

What you will do
- Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain scalable backend services and product components.
- Implement unit, integration, and API tests while ensuring appropriate code coverage and software quality.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated deployment, container-ready development, logging, monitoring, and foundational DevSecOps practices.
- Apply AI-assisted coding, refactoring, testing, documentation, architecture reviews, observability, and anomaly detection.
- Create API specifications, architecture decisions, system designs, and other technical documentation.
- Collaborate with requirement owners, architects, QA, platform engineering, and other stakeholders on solution design, estimation, validation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- University degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience across the software development lifecycle and proficiency in at least one backend programming language.
- Understanding of algorithms, data structures, design patterns, scalability, caching, indexing, secure coding, and OWASP fundamentals.
- Understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, build and test automation, Docker, cloud-ready design, and observability basics.
- Strong analytical, logical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently on medium-complexity tasks.
- Ability to participate in technical discussions, collaborate across engineering functions, document design decisions, and support less experienced engineers.
Nice to have
- Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms.
- Experience with backend frameworks, REST APIs, and microservices.
- Exposure to infrastructure as code, including Terraform.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and secure coding and testing practices.
