Staff Product Designer (Infrastructure)

What you will do

• Own and evolve the end-to-end developer experience across Walrus product surfaces and key workflows.
• Lead product discovery with product and engineering, framing problems, identifying unanswered questions, and validating opportunities before development.
• Conduct developer interviews and usability tests, prototype solutions, and turn research findings into actionable product decisions.
• Design complex technical workflows involving dense data, system states, configuration, resource management, permissions, errors, and high-consequence actions.
• Influence product direction and roadmap decisions while constructively challenging product and engineering assumptions.
• Build scalable design systems, benchmark comparable developer and infrastructure products, and partner with engineering through implementation and design QA.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of product design experience with ownership of complex technical products.
• Portfolio showing shipped developer tools, cloud or infrastructure products, consoles, dashboards, or similarly complex technical products.
• Ability to simplify technically sophisticated workflows while preserving the control and information required by expert users.
• Strong interaction-design skills for data-heavy interfaces, tables, configuration, complex states, progressive disclosure, permissions, errors, and high-consequence actions.
• Experience framing product problems independently, influencing strategy and roadmaps, and conducting lightweight user research and usability testing.
• Experience creating or significantly evolving design systems, partnering closely with engineering, communicating clearly, and operating autonomously in an ambiguous technical environment.
