Junior/Mid Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Split, Croatia; flexible hybrid work model with in-person collaboration, remote work, and flexible working hours.

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot team services and microservices.
• Own the code produced and write clean, testable, scalable software.
• Work as a fullstack engineer with a strong focus on backend development.
• Contribute to system design, architecture, service reliability, alerting, monitoring, and database-related improvements.
• Collaborate with the Product Manager, business stakeholders, and engineering colleagues to improve customer-focused solutions.
• Participate in Scrum and LeSS practices, including sprint planning and retrospectives, while contributing to mentoring and code reviews.

Requirements

• Strong junior or mid-level engineering experience and motivation for a high-growth challenge.
• Hands-on backend development experience with Java or similar technologies.
• Practical experience with Spring, Spring Boot, or comparable backend frameworks.
• Some experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, and frontend development using React, Vue, Node, or similar technologies.
• Understanding of object-oriented principles, data structures, algorithms, concurrent and multi-tier applications, and RESTful services.
• Experience with code reviews and unit or integration testing, plus familiarity with LLM coding tools and agents such as Claude Code or Codex.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, Maven, and Canary deployments.
• Understanding of databases and data management tools such as MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Slack, Kotlin, Go, Groovy, Python, Bash, Docker, Kubernetes, or Prometheus.
• Willingness to adopt, implement, or propose new technologies.
