Software Engineer (Developer Infrastructure)

Location: Reykjavík office with an office-centric hybrid schedule; standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Working from home is generally possible on Wednesdays, while Fridays depend on the work and partner teams.

Salary: 1,000,000–1,200,000 ISK per month, plus potential equity and other compensation components.

What you will do

• Design and improve development sandboxes to accelerate engineering iteration.
• Modernize build systems and improve developer experience and feedback cycles.
• Lead developer infrastructure projects from technical design through implementation, rollout, and operation.
• Partner with engineering teams to identify ways to improve development speed and delivery.
• Analyze infrastructure systems, identify root causes, and drive reliability and performance improvements.
• Promote code quality, maintainable systems, open-source awareness, and strong engineering practices.

Requirements

• 2+ years of software engineering experience, ideally focused on backend or infrastructure work.
• Experience working in large, well-maintained codebases and shipping production systems.
• Familiarity with build tooling and automated testing, plus an interest in distributed systems.
• Ability to move between different areas of a complex codebase and infrastructure stack.
• Strong communication skills and sound judgment when balancing delivery speed, risk, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies and willingness to apply them to improve productivity and collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience designing, building, or operating infrastructure on AWS or another major cloud platform.
