Junior Trading Systems Engineer (Linux)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; London, United Kingdom; New York, NY, United States

Salary: 120,000–160,000 USD per year, plus discretionary performance-based bonuses and benefits.

What you will do

• Manage Linux-based trading infrastructure and contribute to complex technical projects.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues across the production stack.
• Plan and implement system installations, upgrades, application deployments, and configuration changes.
• Improve technical documentation and reduce technical debt.
• Benchmark trading-stack performance in collaboration with subject matter experts.
• Participate in on-call rotations covering trading hours and weekends as needed.

Requirements

• 2+ years of relevant Linux systems administration experience, including package installation, user management, service control, log analysis, and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, default gateways, and Linux installation and configuration from hardware and networking through the kernel and applications.
• Programming experience with the ability to build working software and explain design decisions.
• Basic Bash scripting, configuration management experience, and familiarity with JIRA.
• Project management, communication, organization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work from one of the listed locations: Chicago, New York, or London.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Debian or Ubuntu.
• Experience with SaltStack, Puppet, Ansible, Chef, or CFEngine.
• Production systems and cloud experience with AWS or GCP.
