Lead Quality Engineer (Playwright)

What you will do

• Architect quality gates in GitHub Actions, including coverage thresholds, mutation score gates, contract-test enforcement, flaky-test quarantine, and automated reporting.
• Build DataDog dashboards for test health, coverage trends, and flaky-test rates.
• Lead the migration from Selenium and Cypress to Playwright, including shared configuration, CI sharding, page object libraries, and pipeline optimization.
• Design Pact contract testing and manage the Pact broker for service boundaries created during the monolith-to-microservices migration.
• Maintain Testcontainers environments for MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, LocalStack, and RabbitMQ.
• Champion AI-augmented testing and mentor developers on automation, mutation testing, and quality practices.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in software quality engineering or test automation in a production SaaS environment.
• Strong hands-on Playwright experience, including page object patterns and CI integration.
• Experience defining quality gates in GitHub Actions pipelines and reducing test flakiness at scale.
• Contract testing experience, with Pact strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Java and TypeScript or JavaScript for test implementation.
• Experience with Testcontainers or equivalent integration-test infrastructure, plus active use of AI coding assistants and the ability to validate generated test code.

Nice to have

• Experience building a quality engineering function from scratch and enabling developers through testing programmes.
• Familiarity with DataDog or OpenTelemetry for test-health monitoring.
• Experience with performance testing tools such as k6.
• Hospitality technology industry experience.
