TL;DR
Internship – Analysis of Radar Signatures (ADAS) (Automotive Radar): Analyzing radar signatures and target characteristics for ADAS radar pre-development with an accent on signal processing, range-Doppler evaluation, and radar data visualization. Focus on developing MATLAB/Python tools, evaluating classification approaches, and validating results against recorded radar measurement data.
Location: Lindau, Germany; onsite internship starting September 2026 for at least 6 months

What you will do
- Conduct literature research on automotive radar systems and target classification methods.
- Investigate radar cross-section characteristics, vehicle motion models, and object dynamics.
- Evaluate range-Doppler signatures for passenger cars, trucks, cyclists, pedestrians, and other target classes.
- Develop MATLAB and Python tools for radar data visualization and feature extraction.
- Analyze detection challenges including clutter, multipath reflections, and low-RCS targets.
- Evaluate simple classification approaches and validate results using recorded radar measurement data.
Requirements
- Student in Electrical Engineering or a similar field.
- Basic knowledge of radar and signal processing.
- Basic experience with IT project development.
- Good IT skills and experience with MATLAB and/or Python and C/C++.
- Very good written and spoken English.
- Current enrollment certificate, transcript of records, and confirmation that the study regulations require a mandatory internship.
Nice to have
- Experience with radar, radar signal processing, RF, or antennas.
- Quick comprehension, analytical thinking, independent working style, and high commitment.
