TL;DR
Lead Mechanical Engineer (Camera Hardware): Designing and developing next-generation camera hardware for athlete performance tracking from concept through volume production with an accent on mechanical architecture, manufacturing optimization, and environmental reliability. Focus on validating structural integrity, ingress protection, thermal management, shock and vibration performance, and integrating mechanical systems with electrical, firmware, optics, product, and manufacturing disciplines.

Location: Den Bosch, Netherlands; candidates should live within commuting distance of the offices. Flexible work policy with no current requirement for a specific number of office days.

Salary: €75,000–€125,000 EUR per year, plus eligibility for a long-term incentive award.

What you will do

  • Lead the mechanical architecture, design, and development of next-generation camera hardware from concept through production.
  • Define system-level requirements, document mechanical architecture, and conduct design reviews, feasibility studies, and DFMEA.
  • Collaborate with electrical, firmware, optics, product, and manufacturing partners to align interfaces and optimize designs for production.
  • Create test plans and operate testing and prototyping infrastructure.
  • Qualify mechanical performance across structural integrity, ingress protection, thermal management, shock, and vibration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or mechatronics.
  • Eight or more years of hands-on mechanical or electromechanical design experience taking hardware from concept to volume production.
  • Expertise in 3D CAD, such as SolidWorks or NX, GD&T, tolerance analysis, structural and thermal analysis, materials selection, and sealing principles.
  • Experience with DFM, DFA, requirements management, and failure analysis across injection molding, CNC machining, and sheet metal processes.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to use AI tools to improve engineering productivity.

Nice to have

  • Experience integrating electrical components into mechanical systems.
  • Camera or optical system design experience, including lens mounts, sensor integration, and imaging hardware thermal management.
  • Experience with real-time tracking systems, outdoor deployment, weather sealing, UV resistance, and field serviceability.
  • Experience using field-test data to validate and iterate on mechanical designs.
