Software Engineer Co-op Student (AI) (4-month contract)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; hybrid

Hourly range: CAD 21.00–30.00

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and deploy software applications and AI solutions.
• Develop, train, and evaluate machine learning and generative AI models.
• Prepare and analyze data and perform feature engineering for model development.
• Collaborate with architects and engineers on proof-of-concepts, prototypes, and innovation initiatives.
• Write maintainable, documented code and contribute to application design and architecture discussions.
• Research emerging technologies and participate in Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python, C#, .NET, Java, or similar languages.
• Knowledge of machine learning concepts and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps, Git, and modern software development practices.
• Understanding of data analysis, data preparation, model evaluation, and software testing principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with generative AI, LLMs, prompt engineering, or AI agents.
• Exposure to cloud-native development, APIs, and automation tools.
• Personal, academic, or open-source projects demonstrating software development or AI experience.
