Production Assistant, Nightly News (Broadcast News/Video Production): Supporting the production of NBC's flagship weekend news broadcast through media logging, field shoot coordination, story research, editing, and control room assistance with an accent on deadline-driven journalism, digital video, and broadcast workflows. Focus on cutting VO and tease segments in Avid, developing news stories, and responding quickly to breaking news and changing broadcast requirements.
Location: Hybrid in New York City, United States; generally requires working from the office at least four days per week. Must be willing to work Wednesday–Sunday, with additional hours on short notice for breaking news.

What you will do
- Support producers by logging media, finding file video, and clearing new imagery for daily news and feature spots.
- Coordinate and organize production shoots while providing editorial support.
- Learn Avid and edit VO, tease, and digital story cuts for broadcast and NBCNews.com.
- Assist the production team in the control room and studio during broadcasts.
- Pitch, research, and develop stories for Nightly News.
- Respond to additional production needs and breaking news updates under tight deadlines.
Requirements
- At least one year of network-level news production experience, preferably with an evening news broadcast.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Ability to shoot and edit on desktop, with knowledge of non-linear editing systems such as Avid.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, iNews, and major social media platforms.
- Strong journalistic writing, research, editorial judgment, storytelling, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Must be willing and able to work in New York City, Wednesday–Sunday, with flexible hours and additional shifts when required.
