TL;DR
Optical Processing Technician (Precision Optics Manufacturing): Fabricating, inspecting, cleaning, measuring, and assembling high-precision optical components for semiconductor photolithography machines with an accent on optical processing quality, metrology, and cleanroom production. Focus on operating processing equipment, identifying microscopic defects, maintaining safety and 5S standards, and improving manufacturing efficiency across a compressed night-shift schedule.

Location: Wilton, Connecticut, United States; onsite night shift from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Saturday

What you will do

  • Operate and take ownership of optical processing equipment, including machining, grinding, polishing, coating, alignment, assembly, and metrology operations.
  • Handle delicate optical components, clean surfaces, and inspect and map glass defects.
  • Identify and escalate safety, product, and process quality concerns.
  • Maintain the processing area, tools, and equipment according to 5S standards.
  • Support production schedules, document work accurately, and assist with training employees.
  • Collaborate with production engineering and manufacturing management on continuous improvement, safety, quality, output, and cycle-time initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous manufacturing experience or vocational certification preferred.
  • Ability to read gauges and measuring devices and interpret mathematical, geometrical, and topographical data.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation, communication, accountability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle optical components carefully and work in a cleanroom while wearing required protective clothing and equipment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship and authorized to access controlled technology under U.S. export regulations.

Nice to have

  • Associate degree in a vocational trade.
  • Experience using microscopes, calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines, or interferometers.
  • Participation in quality circles, kaizen events, or other continuous improvement activities.
