Senior Project Officer, West Africa

Location: Accra, Ghana; based out of the Accra office with attendance required at least 3 days per week

What you will do

• Develop and manage the West Africa project pipeline and assess opportunities against commercial, technical, environmental, social, and programme criteria.
• Develop financial and technical analyses, factsheets, business plans, business cases, and commercial strategies with project partners.
• Support capital mobilization, market access, fundraising strategies, and private investment readiness.
• Oversee project implementation, reporting, monitoring, site visits, and problem-solving support.
• Build and maintain relationships with project partners, investors, governments, civil society, and private-sector stakeholders.
• Contribute to regional planning, reporting, lessons learned, and impact communications.

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience in project or programme development or management.
• Strong experience developing business cases, business strategies, financial models, and fundraising plans for for-profit businesses or organisations.
• Relevant sustainability or agricultural and forest commodity experience, including supply chains associated with deforestation.
• Experience working with regional stakeholders, public-private partnerships, civil society, private-sector organisations, and governments.
• Ability to manage complex processes, meet tight deadlines, maintain quality, and work effectively with diverse multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills and advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.

Nice to have

• Experience with FCDO-funded or other large international development programmes.
• Additional experience with palm oil, soya, timber, or similar agricultural and forest commodities.
• Fluency in French.
