TL;DR
Senior Civil Engineer - Defence (Civil Infrastructure): Designing resilient water and civil infrastructure for Australian Defence bases and facilities with an accent on stormwater, roads, utilities, wastewater, and earthworks. Focus on delivering detailed design packages, performing engineering calculations and checks, and coordinating multidisciplinary infrastructure projects subject to Australian Defence clearance requirements.

Location: Adelaide, South Australia, Australia; hybrid work model. In-person Day 1 onboarding at an hirify.global office is required.

What you will do

  • Plan and design civil infrastructure for Defence water and infrastructure projects, including roads, transport, stormwater, utilities, services, and earthworks.
  • Deliver detailed design work packages, engineering calculations, site-data interpretation, and structured technical deliverables.
  • Develop stormwater layouts and hydraulic checks, bulk earthworks grading plans, and basic water and wastewater infrastructure designs.
  • Identify discrepancies in calculations, drawings, models, and project inputs, escalating issues for resolution.
  • Support tenders and proposals and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams across different geographies.

Requirements

  • Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain Australian Defence security clearance are required.
  • Ideally, 5–10 years of postgraduate experience in civil or site infrastructure design.
  • Experience with general civil design, including roads, water, wastewater, and drainage.
  • Exposure to Austroads, Australian Standards, and local council or authority requirements.
  • Strong communication and technical and non-technical report-writing skills.
  • Detail-oriented, quality-focused, and comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams.
