Tax Expert - Expert Center (Northeast) (Tax & Bookkeeping)

Location: Onsite at a TurboTax location in the United States; candidates must reside within the United States. Available locations include Albany, Asheville, Barco, Brooklyn, Buffalo, Camp Hill, Canonsburg, Chapel Hill, Charleston, Charlotte, Charlottesville, Corning, Dover, Durham, East Rochester, Erie, Fort Mill, Glen Allen, Greensboro, Greensburg, Hagerstown, High Point, Holly Springs, Homestead, Johnstown, Mansfield, Middletown, Midlothian, Mooresville, Mount Airy, Nashua, Needham, New London, New York, Newark, Newport News, Norfolk, North Springfield, Ossining, Portland, Providence, Raleigh, Richmond, Riverdale, Roanoke, Rochester, Rock Hill, Schenectady, Scranton, Silver Spring, Stafford, Syracuse, Victor, Virginia Beach, Warrendale, Westminster, White Hall, Williamsport, Wilmington, Winston-Salem, and Worcester.

Salary: $23.50–$41.00 per hour, depending on work location. Additional cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits may apply.

What you will do

• Prepare individual and business tax returns and provide personalized tax advice for straightforward and complex situations.
• Conduct discovery sessions and tax reviews to identify deductions, reduce tax liabilities, maximize refunds, and provide future tax planning guidance.
• Serve customers in person and through video tools while delivering clear, empathetic support.
• Build and grow a local TurboTax customer base through outreach, referrals, community partnerships, workshops, and networking events.
• Connect customers with complementary hirify.global services such as bookkeeping, payroll, financial planning, and Credit Karma.
• Build long-term customer relationships and represent TurboTax in the local community.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of paid experience filing 30 or more federal and state individual 1040 returns per tax season using professional tax preparation software.
• Active PTIN and the ability to obtain required state licenses, certificates, permits, or bonds.
• EA, CPA, or practicing attorney credentials and strong tax preparation experience are preferred.
• Familiarity with Circular 230 and tax laws.
• Must reside in the United States and work onsite at a TurboTax office.
• Must generally be available from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time, Monday through Friday, for at least 20 hours per week.
