Design Manager, Aviation - Building Engineering

Location: Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne, Australia; hybrid work model. Newly hired employees must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an hirify.global office.

What you will do

• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary building engineering design teams across architecture, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, fire protection, ICT, security, acoustics and other specialist disciplines.
• Deliver complex aviation projects, particularly airport terminals and building-services integration in operational environments.
• Work with clients, airport operators, end users, contractors and specialist consultants to translate operational requirements into practical design solutions.
• Manage design coordination from concept through detailed design and delivery, resolving interfaces and conflicts across disciplines.
• Manage design risks, technical assurance, programme requirements, stakeholder expectations, quality and buildability.
• Lead design reviews and coordination workshops to resolve issues and ensure compliance with project, operational and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Ideally 10+ years of experience in building engineering, design or construction, including progression into design management or multidisciplinary project leadership.
• Experience delivering complex multidisciplinary projects; airport terminal or broader aviation experience is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of interfaces between architecture, structure, MEP, fire, security and specialist engineering disciplines.
• Experience leading design teams, coordinating consultants and working directly with clients and key stakeholders.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to bring together diverse technical disciplines and drive decisions.
• Practical, solutions-focused approach with knowledge of programme, risk, quality, constructability and technical governance.
