TL;DR
Data Scientist - Journeyman (AI/ML): Building and deploying predictive models, secure AI/ML pipelines, NLP solutions, dashboards, and cognitive agents for Department of the Army data operations with an accent on statistical modeling, governed Generative AI, and classified data environments. Focus on developing reproducible features and model pipelines, monitoring model drift, and translating complex analytics into executive-level recommendations.
Location: Onsite in Honolulu, Hawaii; applicants must currently reside in the United States

What you will do
- Build, test, deploy, and improve forecasting, classification, regression, and other machine learning models.
- Perform exploratory data analysis across complex, multi-source datasets to identify trends, anomalies, data quality issues, and operational drivers.
- Develop scalable, maintainable, and reproducible feature and model pipelines with data engineers.
- Apply NLP, LLM, and Generative AI techniques to analyze unstructured text, reports, and messaging data within approved secure environments.
- Create executive-ready dashboards, visualizations, briefings, and actionable recommendations.
- Work across multiple classification enclaves, collaborate with stakeholders, and monitor model drift, recalibration, assumptions, and limitations.
Requirements
- Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance required.
- 5+ years of experience in applied statistics, predictive modeling, machine learning, or quantitative research.
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, or Econometrics.
- Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL for analysis, modeling, and exploratory data analysis.
- Knowledge of forecasting, regression, and modern machine learning frameworks including scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
- Experience with LLMs/Generative AI in secure, governed enterprise environments and executive-level data storytelling.
Nice to have
- Experience with Palantir Foundry, Databricks, or Snowflake.
- Familiarity with the Defense and Intelligence sector, headquarters operations, and intelligence data structures.
- Experience with data cataloging, master data management, and metadata practices.
- Master’s degree in a quantitative field.
